Climate change : Michael Sabia participates in the 2018 Investor Summit on Climate Risk
Michael Sabia, President and Chief Executive Officer, participated in the Investor Summit on Climate Risk 2018: Capturing the Investment Opportunities of the Paris Agreement. Representatives from CalPERS, CalSTRS, New York City, the Government Pension Investment Fund, Norges Bank Investment Management and the Investor Group on Climate Change were present alongside CDPQ.
And as global efforts to fight climate change intensify, many new investment opportunities will materialize in the coming years.
The Summit was an opportunity for CDPQ to present the principles and strategies behind its investment strategy to address climate change, first announced in the fall of 2017. This strategy makes CDPQ the first institutional investor in North America to set carbon reduction targets in each of its asset classes.
“The most important element for us in designing our climate change strategy was to have a constructive, positive approach to support the transition to a low carbon economy and seize good investment opportunities over the coming years,” mentioned Michael when answering Peter Damgaard Jensen, Chair, Institutional Investor Group on Climate Change and Moderator. “And as global efforts to fight climate change intensify, many new investment opportunities will materialize in the coming years. Clean infrastructure, energy efficiency and cleantech are all examples of industries showing strong growth,” he added.
