The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec announces that Claude Bergeron has been appointed Executive Vice-president, Legal Affairs, and Secretariat. This appointment follows the announced retirement of Suzanne Masson, Executive Vice-president, Corporate Affairs, and Secretary.

“Claude Bergeron is a talented and experienced lawyer who will undoubtedly rise to this new challenge. I am delighted by the peer recognition he received when he was recently named Canadian general counsel of the year. Mr. Bergeron is a person of great value who is highly respected within the Caisse, and he has carried out many highly complex assignments,” said Michael Sabia, President and CEO of the Caisse.

Mr. Sabia also acknowledged Ms. Masson’s important contribution during the years she spent with the organization. “Ms. Masson is a valuable person for whom I have the highest regard. I’m convinced many colleagues and employees are sorry to see her go. Throughout her career, Ms. Masson showed tremendous commitment, which earned her the trust of the public and private organizations for which she assumed major responsibilities,” added Mr. Sabia.

Vice-president, communications
The Caisse also announces the appointment of Véronique Mercier to the position of Vice-president, Communications. Ms. Mercier will report directly to the President and CEO. She will manage the Caisse’s public affairs and communications. Ms. Mercier has spent her career in the public sector. She was office manager and press secretary to Quebec’s Finance Minister and press secretary to the Premier of New Brunswick. Ms. Mercier was also responsible for communications at Service New Brunswick.

“With her experience in institutional communications and her managerial qualities, Ms. Mercier will help the Caisse achieve its objectives in the area of transparency,” said Mr. Sabia.

The announced changes will take effect at the end of June.
