The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec acquires shares of Nova Chemicals Corp.

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (the «Caisse») announces that it has acquired, on the Toronto Stock Exchange, 67,119 common shares of Nova Chemicals Corp (TSX:NCX) («Nova») or 0.08% of such shares outstanding at an average price of 25.81$ per share.

Before this transaction, Caisse held 7,998,151 common shares of Nova as well as 2,500 options to acquire 250,000 common shares of Nova (the «Options») at an exercise price of 25$ per share, on or before January 16, 2009.

Through this transaction, and if Caisse were to exercise the Options that it holds, the total number of Nova common shares that it would own would be 8,315,270, or 10.00% of such shares outstanding on a partially diluted basis.

This transaction was made for investment purposes and the Caisse could increase or reduce its investment in the Company according to market conditions or other relevant factors.
