Thirteenth annual HEC Montréal – Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec Undergraduate Stock Exchange (SBIU): Université Laval earns top marks

A Université Laval student delegation earned top marks at the 13th annual HEC Montréal–Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec Undergraduate Stock Exchange (SBIU), held yesterday at the Centre CDP Capital Parquet. The Caisse awarded a $2,000 scholarship to the winning team.

One Université Laval team finished in first place with an average portfolio value of $1,076,227. Another Université Laval delegation came in second with a $1,075,675 average. In third was HEC Montréal with $926,098.

The competition, a financial market simulation, attracted more than 450 finance and administration students from 11 Canadian universities. To participate, each team had to trade a virtual investment portfolio with an initial value of $200,000.

Participants came from these schools: HEC Montréal, John Molson School of Business – Concordia University, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Carleton University, Bishop’s University, Université Laval, McGill University, Université du Québec à Montréal, Université du Québec en Outaouais, Université de Sherbrooke and Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.

The Undergraduate Stock Exchange (SBIU), a Société de Relations d'Affaires HEC Montréal initiative, is sponsored by the Caisse, SITQ and CGI in recognition of students who excel at finance and economics.
